I brought the brown sketchbook with me on a trip to London with my illustration students. It’s kind of a weird group of drawings (for me), but quite representative of the trip!
I am a huge fan of brown paper…I love it more than the gray. I think it feels less precious, but also lately I think it’s also because I can use white as a color and I really like that.
I was waiting for to meet up with a friend and it started to rain heavily so I popped into this corner pub, had a half pint of cider and drew the big group in the back. Might go back and make them true silhouettes…
Another quiet moment waiting to meet students. This was a weird array of bar stools…it felt like the only thing in the place that wasn’t moving (or being blocked!). Sketch-blocking, is that a thing?
This was (again) waiting. We were on the bus and waiting to go for the one on the left. It was really cold (for April!), and the person waiting to board only had a sweatshirt on…brrr!
I love the cones…these I kept seeing on the sides of the roads and in different colors. Might need to learn more about colored cones! I swear they are only orange back in the States.

This feels like a really light post. We’re getting hot and heavy into the degree show and end of year assessments, so it might stay pretty light for the next couple of weeks.
If you signed up for the paid mailing list, you should have received your issue in the mail by now. We are shipping from the UK so might be a bit slower than last year…but do give me a shout if you have received it yet. Thanks for listening everyone! I love the chance to share with you (maybe that’s a future topic…so much of my day is others sharing with me :) Anyway, I appreciate you!!
