The next few posts are shaping up to be reflections of the holidays and last few months. I hope you aren’t too tired of these kinds of posts after the end of year onslaught. I find the process of putting these work in progress posts where I think about how does my drawing work or illustrative work come about is often quite reflective. And it helps keep me inspired.
We spent a week in Scotland right before Christmas, and one of the things I loved were so many of the signs I saw. I kept noticing lots of graphics, old ones as well as new. I love shields and icons and also love that gold lettering above….
This image is from the Witchery, the outdoor sign for you can see in the first images. It’s really beautiful restaurant just near Edinburgh Castle and we went for a lovely birthday tea. I love this photo that Justin took; it’s how the dining room sort felt .
We spent a day in the Highlands, and while I totally love the landscape, I kind of can’t stop looking at this picture of me and my two daughters because the are just about as tall as me and I can’t really believe it.
We stayed in Inverness and had to walk over this little bridge over the River Ness, and it swayed and shook with every step. It was equally freaky and wonderful. We did a lot of walking around, and I have a lovely video Justin shot of the waters of the River Ness when we walked around the islands there, but I can’t seem to post it in these newsletter emails…the water is gurgling and so lovely.
These are the stairs up to the Georgian Flat we stayed in in the new city of Edinburgh, it had high ceilings and beautiful windows to a little pocket park in the neighbourhood. I hadn’t realised Edinburgh was so hilly! We walked up and up all the time. We also went to the Christmas Market at night to enjoy the lights and drink mulled wine, but I am out of room in this issue!
