I’ve been doing lots of drawing & painting lately, but I’ve been having trouble sharing it because every time I get on the internet I am faced with the rest of the world. I’m sure you know what I mean. I also don’t feel like I have much of value to add. I’ve been thinking about how we might learn not to pass on the pain that has been inflicted onus to other people….I see this in my own family as well as in the world. It’s such a hard thing.
I read two things this week that gave me more to think about. One was super practical. I read a newsletter called Evil Witches (it’s about motherhood/parenting), and Claire Zulkey, who writes it, talked about doing local practical things. I recommend this post if you feel like you need to DO something right now:
The other one I read was much more philosophical. Pablo Helguera writes a newsletter called Beautiful Eccentrics, and it’s about the art world, but this one was also about history and games, which brought a totally different kind of thinking to the fore about living in a multicultural world.
I know there are lots of things to read right now, all with a wide variety of perspectives and truth, so please take these as you find them, sent in the spirit of open communication and thoughtfulness. For me, the most best way to communicate and prompt deeper thinking is with images (you knew I was going to say that) so I’ll leave you with two other new containers/vessels I just finished. I hope they are even more meaningful/helpful in some way.
Wishing you safety & peace.
