I’ve sent out some kind of new year or holiday card every year since I was in my early twenties. I am hardly ever on time (someday they will just be valentine’s I suppose)….but I always send them. I still have two on my desk that need addressing. And once you are on my list, it can be hard to get off. I just discovered a friend I’ve been sending them to for years, has moved. Someone else must have been getting my cards every year, and I’m a little sad to stop sending them to this unknown person.
This year I riso printed them, and I am just loving them. I asked our print technician for brown ink for one of our new colours this year, and she said the rep was surprised…but I’m just loving it.
For the card itself, I sent one of my favourite poems/sayings. I got it from an embroidery I picked up at a thrift shop that hangs on my wall. It was stitched in 1952 (and looks nothing like my card). I try to think of this mantra most days. Well, on my hardest days especially.
I included these cards in the winter mailing for paid subscribers, plus something special. I’ll show photos shortly.
I have a few other posts I’m working on about some other travels and museum visits from this winter that will come through in the next couple of issues. I hope you all are using the winter months for museum visits too. Pretty soon the weather will be nice and we should just get outside. Can’t wait!
