Hello lovelies,
I realise it’s almost a year since I’ve written, which is when I stopped accepting paid subscriptions and stopped sending physical mailings. I really loved sending those, but I’ve been trying to adjust my practice and navigate my teaching load, oh and enjoy family life too.
I’m back because I’m thinking about how to change the ways I stay in touch digitally. I’ve dumped Facebook, and am working on untangling from Instagram. I know lots of us feel like we get work and connection through it, but I also know successful folk who have given it up too. So I’m thinking about writing here again, finding a good pace and learning how to make it feel good for me and you.

I’ve got a nice new group of subscribers who’ve joined when I talked about getting off instagram, so maybe I’ll get back into the swing with a little introduction.
I’m in Edinburgh this weekend (with my students) for the Edinburgh Artist Bookmarket at Fruitmarket gallery. I love books and graphic design (as well as illustration); I was a graphic designer at The Village Voice and the Denver Art Museum when I first started out.
We are here as Pittville Press which is run through our course and you can see more about it in our Substack below. We are here launching a new book I helped make with students about dreams. We don’t have it on our website (yet!) but here’s a sneak peek:
I am the course leader for the BA (Hons) Illustration course at the University of Gloucestershire, and I’m really interested in how students and teachers can work together for everyone to learn. You can see more about our course here: http://uogillustration.uk I used to teach at MICA and at Parsons and I went to the Museum School and I have met many amazing artists and teachers at all of those places.
In my own artistic practice, I’ve been making papier-maché for the last two years and I love it! Here’s a few images, and you can also buy some pieces at Not Just A Shop in London. They also carry a selection of greeting cards from me :)

I used to run a wallpaper studio called Nottene for many years (that’s what this newsletter grew out of actually), but I don’t want to spend too much time going backwards. Thinking about going forward, I want to share with you new projects, developments and ideas, and hope and joy. I won’t write too much; it’s too much pressure for me and I bet you have lots of other things to read and do too.
Please stay tuned and feel free to share. We’ve all got to stick together these days.
